Biography: Arbitration

Mogens Skipper-Pedersen is a co-founder of Copenhagen Chambers, established in January 2008 as a host vehicle for independent arbitrators, and he is now serving exclusively as an arbitrator and mediator in international commercial disputes.

From 1974 to 2007 Mogens was a partner of Kromann Reumert, a Danish international law firm, and has during this period advised Danish and foreign companies in all aspects of international commercial law matters. He has acted as lead counsel in numerous national and international mergers, demergers and acquisitions related to financial institutions, airports, telecommunications, oil and gas, energy, pharmaceuticals, security and services. He has also acted as a trustee in bankruptcy estates of large Danish multinational companies.

During his last 10 years with Kromann Reumert, Mogens used a substantial part of his time on arbitration, and he was head of the firm's dispute resolution group. He has served as chairman, as sole arbitrator and on arbitration panels in arbitrations governed by the rules of Voldgiftsinstituttet (Danish arbitration), Arbitration Institute of The Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, ICC Arbitration and UNCITRAL. In addition he has acted as chairman in a number of Scandinavian and international arbitrations on an ad hoc basis.

Mogens was chairman of the Danish Arbitration Association from 2002 to 2008. He is a member of the panel of arbitrators of the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR), and a member of several other arbitral institutions. Between 2002 and 2008 he was a member of International Bar Association's council, and he served as a member of the General Council of the Danish Bar and Law Society from 1984 to 1989.

Mogens obtained his law degrees at Aarhus University (Denmark) and New York University School of Law.
