Safir Anand was born in New Delhi in 1971. He has been admitted to the Bar in India since 1995. Mr Anand studied at Delhi University (BA (Economics) 1992) at the Shriram College of Commerce and did his law at Delhi University in 1995. He is a member of the Bar Council of India; INTA; Asian Patents Attorneys Association (APAA), Asia-Pacific Lawyers Association; Centre for International Legal Studies (honorary life member), SAARCLAW, AIPPI, International Bar Association. Mr Anand practises in the following areas: trademarks, franchising and licensing, character merchandising, IP audits, IP issues in mergers and acquisitions, due diligence, oppositions, rectifications, intellectual property laws involving individuals, copyright laws. He is a strategist on several IP portfolios.

Mr Anand is senior partner and the head of the trademarks department at Anand & Anand. He is an adviser and strategist on intellectual property matters to leading companies including several Fortune 500 companies; and acts for over 5,000 clients. Mr Anand is an executive council member of the Franchising Association Of India (FAI ). He has written several articles, including for Managing Intellectual Property (Euromoney), International Internet Review, Dataquest, and International Franchising Laws. Recently Mr Anand was featured in Emerald Who's Who for Executives and Professionals.

Anand & Anand's trademarks department ranks No. 1 in Trademark Practice in India (Managing Intellectual Property Survey for the year 2005 - 2006). The firm has been ranked as best overall firm for the years 2005 to 2007 by Managing Intellectual Property; as India's largest Intellectual Property Firm (Euromoney); and among the 25 largest IP firms in Asia; and is the only Indian firm to be listed as a "World's Best IP Practice" in 2002-2003 edition of Global Counsel 3000.

Mr Anand is featured in the Who's Who of Professionals. He is a director at the Centre for Education Management and Development.
