Gary J Cohen is a partner in Sidley's corporate group. Following law school, Mr Cohen was a law clerk for the Honourable Wilfred Feinberg, United States Court of Appeals, Second Circuit.

Prior to joining the firm in 1989, Mr Cohen had formed his own firm where his practice focused on corporate matters, real estate securities and tax law.

Mr Cohen now focuses on corporate law with an emphasis on investment advisory matters, private equity and real estate offerings, mezzanine debt transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and general corporate matters. He has counselled registered investment advisers, boards of directors and lender groups in reorganisation matters. He has represented small private companies as well as New York Stock Exchange member companies in various merger and acquisition transactions.

Mr Cohen is a member of the American and Los Angeles County Bar Associations and a member of the taxation, business law and real property law sections of the American Bar Association. He is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley School of Law where he was a Bartley Cavanaugh Crum Scholar (first in class) and associate editor of the California Law Review.
