Robert Rabalais is a partner in the business & international section of Vinson & Elkins. Mr Rabalais's practice focuses on commercial and capital markets financings and derivative transactions. He represents corporate borrowers and issuers, commercial banks and mezzanine lenders, institutional investors, and insurance companies.

Mr Rabalais's industry segment experience includes oil and gas exploration and production and related service companies, transportation, and marketing businesses, including reserve-based lending, mezzanine lending, project financings and derivative linked, structured financings. He also participates in financings for distressed debt issuers, maritime, and consumer products companies.

His derivative experience includes advising clients on regulatory and legal issues pertaining to derivatives, negotiating and documenting swap and swap options using both standard ISDA documentation, and non-standard forms.

Mr Rabalais has been recognised by Chambers USA: America's Leading Business Lawyers in banking and finance law, 2005-2007; The Best Lawyers in America in banking law, 2006-2007, in corporate and derivatives law, 2007; Texas Monthly as a 'Texas Rising Star' in securities and corporate finance, 2005, and as a 'Texas Super Lawyer' in securities and corporate finance, 2005; and H Texas as one of its 'Lawyers on the Fast Track', 2004.

Mr Rabalais graduated from Louisiana State University, BS in 1986, and Louisiana State University Law School, JD in 1989.
