Mr Harvin has tried and argued on appeal antitrust, securities, corporate, contract and commercial, tax, and ERISA cases. His energy industry experience extends from exploration and production issues to gas pipeline cases and gas, power, and crude oil trading disputes. In the antitrust area he has defended clients in civil cases, including class actions, and represented clients in government investigations. He also has considerable experience defending securities fraud and breach of fiduciary duty cases. For 10 years he served as Shell's principal outside counsel in litigation over allegedly defective polybutylene plumbing, which included arbitrating the allocation between the settling defendants of financial responsibility for a nationwide class settlement, defending collateral attacks on the nationwide class settlement, defeating efforts to certify additional classes, and pursuing recoveries from the insurers of a bankrupt co-defendant.
For 20 years, Mr Harvin has been a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and listed in The Best Lawyers in America in the area of business litigation. He is also recognised in Legal Media Group's Guide to the World's Leading Lawyers and Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business. For several years, Texas Monthly named Mr Harvin among the "Top 100 Houston Region Super Lawyers".
