Biography: Commercial Litigation

Bill Sims is a senior trial lawyer with extensive and active jury trial experience. He has been representing plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal courts throughout Texas and the south-west for more than 34 years. These trials have involved a wide range of business disputes, including securities, civil conspiracy, breach of fiduciary duties, fraud, contracts, deceptive trade practices, patents, copyrights, unfair competition, RICO, libel, ERISA, products liability (pharmaceuticals), tortious interference with contractual relations and prospective business relations, intentional infliction of emotional distress, oil and gas, municipal finance and antitrust.

Mr Sims has been lead trial counsel in many major trials, each of which lasted from one to six weeks. He also has extensive national experience in arbitrations.

Mr Sims has served as co-chair of the firm's Dallas litigation section and has also served two terms on the firm's management committee.

As a result of his years of experience, Mr Sims has been recognised in numerous publications including Chambers USA as a leading lawyer in general commercial litigation in 2007; and The Best Lawyers in America as a leader in business litigation from 2003 to 2006, and in commercial litigation in 2007. Additionally, Mr Sims was recognised as one of 13 'highly recommended' Texas trial lawyers by Global Counsel Handbook's The Leading Lawyers Worldwide from 2003 to 2006.

Mr Sims obtained his BA from the University of Mississippi in 1969 and his JD from Harvard Law School in 1972.
