Larry Nettles is a partner with Vinson & Elkins, where he has been practising environmental law full-time since 1981. Mr Nettles has an exceptionally broad range of environmental law experience advising clients with multi-faceted environmental problems, such as those frequently encountered in large business transactions. Mr Nettles has experience in counselling, permitting, and civil and criminal litigation, and has a proven track record in negotiating settlements and liability allocation agreements to resolve complex environmental problems. He has defended clients in more than three-dozen criminal enforcement proceedings initiated by the Harris County District Attorney and the Texas Attorney General.

Mr Nettles has been recognised as one of the top 10 environmental lawyers in the United States by US Lawyer Rankings; one of the best environmental lawyers in the nation in the most recent edition of Best Lawyers in America; one of the best environmental law attorneys in Texas; by Texas Monthly in the magazine's recent listing of 'Texas Super Lawyers' and by Chambers & Partners in its recent guidebook on America's Leading Lawyers for Business.

Mr Nettles graduated from Rice University with a BS in Civil Engineering and later received his law degree, with honours, from the University of Texas School of Law. He is a founder of the environmental law section of the Houston Bar Association and is very active in community affairs. Mr Nettles is the author of numerous articles on environmental law and is a frequent speaker on related topics.
