Frank G Smith III is the head of Alston & Bird's intellectual property litigation, Atlanta group. He concentrates his practice in the litigation of intellectual property matters, including patent and copyright cases, as well as other complex matters, such as antitrust and white-collar crime. He is a former member of the firm's partners' committee.

Mr Smith has litigated complex matters in the federal courts in Alabama, California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Massachusetts, Michigan, New York, Texas, Virginia, Washington DC and Wisconsin.

Mr Smith received his JD degree in 1977 from Stanford University, where he was a member of the Order of Coif, and his BA degree in 1974 from Davidson College, where he was Phi Beta Kappa.
