In the past three years, Mr Schnell has been involved in more than 70 major, publicly disclosed M&A and financing transactions, including 19 deals valued at more than US$1 billion each. He has represented many leading global companies, including health care companies such as UnitedHealth Group, Cigna, AdvancePCS and PacifiCare, corporate firms such as Union Pacific, Anheuser-Busch and America Movil, and leading Wall Street firms American Express, Banc of America, Bear Stearns, Citigroup, Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley, UBS Investment Bank, Banco Pactual and Banco Bradesco.
Mr Schnell also works with numerous leading private equity firms, coordinates the firm's worldwide health care practice and co-chairs the Latin America practice.
Mr Schnell has chaired the editorial board of The M&A Lawyer, a monthly publication made up of leading worldwide M&A lawyers, since its founding 10 years ago. In addition, in the past year, he chaired Thomson's 27th Annual Forum on Negotiating Corporate Acquisitions; chaired the Negotiated Acquisitions programme of the 22nd Annual M&A Lawyer Institute; appeared as a speaker on hostile M&A at the Glasser Legal Works 23rd Annual Institute on Federal Securities; and co-chaired the Seventh Annual Conference on Health Care Transactions sponsored by Renaissance American and the Beard Group. Most recently Mr Schnell wrote an article for The National Law Journal "Fending Off Hostile Activity Now", 25 June 2007 on the evolution of corporate preparedness for hostile takeovers and shareholder activism.
