Biography: Real Estate

Martha Feltenstein, listed in Euromoney's Guide to the World's Leading Real Estate Attorneys, is active in all aspects of Skadden, Arps's real estate practice, including real estate development, acquisitions, leasing, joint ventures, financing, public and private offerings of real estate securities, and commercial mortgage securitisation.

In connection with real estate development, Ms Feltenstein most recently represented Alexandria Real Estate in its ground lease and development of the East River Science Project in New York City, a project designed to start the bio-tech industry in the city.

In the area of real estate securities offerings, Ms Feltenstein has worked with several major investment banks on the public and private offerings of real estate investment trusts, mortgage notes, shopping centre funds, residential property funds and so-called vulture funds of distressed properties.

Her real estate financing practice has included representing JPMorgan Chase Bank, Bank of America, Wachovia and others in many of the largest unsecured lines of credit to publicly traded REITs.

Ms Feltenstein has worked on the acquisition of various office building projects and numerous commercial mortgage securitisations. She also represents US and non-US clients in their acquisition and development of hotels, shopping centres, office buildings and residential properties in the United States and abroad.

Ms Feltenstein has assisted the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey for many years on the World Trade Centre project, both before 9/11, in its ground leasing to Larry Silverstein and Westfield, and after 9/11. Since the late 1990s, Ms Feltenstein has also been active in many aspects of Skadden's representation of the Fortress Investment Group.
