Among other achievements, Dr Wöss is the initiator of the Investment Arbitration Forum and the Arbitration Forum in Mexico and co-editor and co-author of two books on investment arbitration. He is also the special editor of Transnational Dispute Management's special edition on Latin America.
He is a member of the arbitration commission of the ICC International Court of Arbitration and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb.). He is a fellow of the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (ACICA), Rapporteur of the dispute resolution committee of the International Bar Associations' international construction projects committee and the national representative at the Dispute Resolution Board Foundation. He is also listed in the panel of international arbitrators of the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR/AAA).
Dr Wöss has trained and practised in Austria, the UK and Mexico and at the EC. He holds a law degree and a Doctorate in International Economic Law with honours in Austria and an LLM in International Business Legal Studies in Great Britain. He worked at the EC Legal Service in Brussels and is a Licenciado en Derecho in Mexico. He has been listed in The International Who's Who of Trade and Customs Lawyers since 1998. He specialises in infrastructure and construction projects, and also practises in the areas of corporate law, trade and project finance, competition law and M&A.

He started his career with Edmond McGovern (international trade regulation) at the University of Exeter and worked for some time in the team for foreign relations at the legal service of the EC Commission. Upon arrival in Mexico he wrote an expert opinion on the draft foreign trade law for the Mexican congress and became a pioneer and one of the eminent figures of the Mexican foreign trade regulation system.
His professional practice focuses on anti-dumping, countervailing duty and safeguards procedures. Among many others, he won the landmark anti-dumping case against the importation of steel pipes for oil and gas pipelines from Germany and a dozen of other cases. He has advised industrial corporations and government entities on rules of origin, labelling standards, customs valuation, patent protection for pharmaceutical products, tariff classification, technical barriers and customs procedures.
He is an expert on dispute resolution under WTO, NAFTA, the EU-Mexico Association Agreement and other FTAs and has been appointed several times as candidate for NAFTA Chapter XIX panels, amongst others. He wrote a book on Dispute Resolution in International Economic Law and under the North American Agreement on Labour Co-operation and is also the founder of the Investment Arbitration Forum, co-editor and co-author of a book on investment arbitration (www.bibliojuridica.org/libros/libro.htm?l=2815). Dr Wöss is editor of the special edition 'Latin America' of transnational dispute management (www.transnational-dispute-management.com).
