Biography: Trade & Customs

Milos Barutciski represents Canadian and international clients regarding trade, investment and international business matters, including NAFTA, the WTO Agreements, investment treaties, customs matters, trade sanctions, foreign corrupt practices and international dispute settlement. He regularly appears in anti-dumping, countervailing duty and government procurement cases before the Canadian International Trade Tribunal and the Federal Courts.

Mr Barutciski is the chair the international affairs committee of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and president of the International Law Association (London). He is also a member of the trade and investment commission of the International Chamber of Commerce, and of the trade committee of the Business and Industry Advisory Committee to the OECD (BIAC). Mr Barutciski is a past chair of the international law section of the Canadian Bar Association and a member of the CBA Council. He currently chairs the legal practice division of the American Bar Association's section of international law.

Fluently bilingual in English and French, Mr Barutciski has published and lectured internationally on matters relating to international trade and competition law. He has testified before federal and provincial parliamentary committees, and has been consulted by WTO and NAFTA working groups, OECD committees, officials of the People's Republic of China, and Canadian and foreign business organisations in relation to international trade and competition law. From 1996 to 1999, Mr Barutciski was retained by a leading international financial institution to advise with respect to regulatory reform in the Middle East and Africa. Mr Barutciski was an adjunct professor of International Trade Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Ottawa from 1990 to 1994.
