Biography: Commercial Arbitration

Hiroo Advani specialises in international arbitration and has been lead counsel for Indian companies and multinational companies doing business in India. He has acted both for and against international clients in infrastructure, oil and gas, construction, and banking disputes and has handled arbitrations under Indian, English, Swiss and Swedish laws. Mr Advani largely acts for the claimants and has an enviable track record of success. The execution of arbitral awards in India is fraught with difficulties, and Mr Advani has been the counsel in High Courts, as well as the Supreme Court of India, to effect the execution of such awards.

Mr Advani has conducted international arbitrations under LCIA, ICC, Swiss Rules and Swedish institutions. He also specialises in domestic arbitrations in India which, of course, require a completely different mindset from international arbitrations.

He has been the lead speaker at international seminars on international arbitration and this has resulted in the law firm Advani & Co being recognised as one of the top law firms in dispute resolution in the latest edition of the prestigious Indian Business Law Journal .
