Biography: Corporate Immigration

Ellen G Yost is a partner at Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen & Loewy LLP and is a member of the Bar of the State of New York. Fragomen is a global corporate immigration law firm and Ms Yost practises in the area of United States immigration law. She is active in business organisations and national and international bar associations and represents the firm at intergovernmental discussions on business migration at the United Nations and its affiliated organisations and at international conferences.

Ms Yost recently formed an immigration group at the US Council for International Business (USCIB), the United States affiliate of the ICC. She has represented the USCIB at meetings of the Office of Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) relating to business migration and at the intergovernmental global forum on international migration and development.

Ms Yost is a member of the commission on immigration of the American Bar Association (ABA) and represents the ABA at the OECD in Paris. She formerly represented the ABA at the United Nations economic and social council in Geneva and, in that capacity, assisted the work of the global commission on international migration. Ms Yost served on the council of the ABA's section on international law and was chair of that section's UN and international institutions coordinating, immigration and nationality law and Canadian law committees. With assistance from the ABA, she founded the pro bono immigration project of the Bar Association of Erie County that represents indigent aliens detained at the Federal Detention Facility in Batavia, New York. Ms Yost is a liaison of the ABA to the Union Internationale des Avocats (UIA).

She founded and is president of the UIA's commission on immigration and nationality law and is vice-president of the UIA's United States national committee. Ms Yost is liaison of the UIA to the American Bar Association and to the OECD in Paris. She is a member of the council on international affairs and of the committee on international legal practice at the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.

She is a member of International Bar Association, the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the New York State Bar Association and is a frequent lecturer and author. Ms Yost is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College and of the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law where she was a member of the Law Review.
