Mr Yontef's recent achievements include acting as lead corporate counsel for Air Canada in its efforts to restructure its business (the largest insolvency, business and debt restructuring ever attempted in Canada). He also acted as lead counsel for Blackfriars Corp in its successful public tender for and acquisition of Emco Limited; for the acquiror in Cara Holdings Limited's successful going-private transaction with Cara Operations Limited; for Nortel on the sale of its manufacturing operations to Flextronics; for MemberWorks on its acquisition of Lavalife; for Allstream in its proposed merger with Manitoba Telecom Services; for Aecon on the acquisition proposal from Hochtief; for ACE Aviation Services on its acquisition of a strategic investment in US Airways; for the Government of Ontario (Infrastructure Ontario) in connection with the establishment and funding of the Greater Toronto Transportation Authority and its initial projects; for Pinetree Capital in conjunction with an Ontario Securities Commission investigation; for Laidlaw International in its merger with First Group; and for Apax Partners in connection with its acquisition of Thomson Learning.
Mr Yontef received his LLB from Osgoode Hall Law School of York University, and his LLM from Harvard University.
