Jan Woloniecki is senior counsel and head of litigation at Attride-Stirling & Woloniecki. Before moving to Bermuda he practised at the English Bar and then worked for four and a half years at Clifford Chance, London. He is a door tenant of Brick Court Chambers in London. Mr Woloniecki was part of the team that set up Bermuda law firm Attride-Stirling & Woloniecki in 1999. The firm specialises in international commercial litigation and arbitration, insurance, reinsurance, corporate, commercial and insolvency law. Mr Woloniecki's practice covers international commercial litigation and arbitration, private international law, insurance, reinsurance, insolvency, banking and telecommunications law.
Mr Woloniecki's experience as counsel, expert witness and arbitrator includes arbitrations held in Bermuda, London, Hong Kong, Singapore and the US. He has appeared as counsel in Bermuda in nearly 40 commercial cases reported in www.bermudalawreports.net. He is the co-author, with Terry O'Neill, of The Law of Reinsurance in England and Bermuda (Sweet & Maxwell, second edition, September 2004), the first edition of which won the 1998 British Insurance Law Association book prize. He edited the chapter on insurance companies in Totty & Moss on Insolvency (Sweet & Maxwell) and contributed the section on Bermuda law to the fourth edition of Mark Hoyle's Freezing And Search Orders (Informa).
Mr Woloniecki obtained an LLB from the University of London and an LLM from Cambridge University. He was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales (1983), and the Bar of Bermuda (1981). He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, ARIAS (US & UK), LCIA, the International Bar Association and the International Association of Defence Counsel.
