Gerhard has published and authored a number of books and articles on European and German competition law (eg, Handbuch des Kartellrechts (2nd edn 2008), European Merger Control Monitor/Looseleaf (1998), and Kommentar zu den Gruppenfreistellungsverordnungen des EWG Kartellrechts (1989/1990)). He is a professor at the University of Rostock, where he teaches EC and German competition law, and serves as a member of the board (Vorstandsmitglied) of the Studienvereinigung Kartellrecht (the Antitrust Lawyers Association for Germany, Austria and Switzerland).
