Biography: Insolvency & Restructuring

Ms Vris brings more than 25 years of restructuring and reorganisation experience to her clients, which have included creditors, debtors, potential purchasers of assets from distressed companies, and equity investors in companies emerging from chapter 11. She is a member of the National Bankruptcy Conference, an organisation in the United States consisting of approximately 60 of the leading bankruptcy lawyers, law professors, and judges; a member of INSOL, the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and chair of the steering committee for the New York City Bankruptcy Assistance Programme. She is also a long-time contributing editor to Colliers on Bankruptcy, the leading treatise on bankruptcy in the United States, and participates frequently on continuing legal education panels, lecturing, and writing on bankruptcy topics. Prior to joining V&E, she was a founding partner of Cronin & Vris, LLP, a New York-based bankruptcy boutique firm and a partner at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz.

Ms Vris' recent matters include representing significant creditors or bidders in the chapter 11 cases of Lehman, General Growth Properties, GM and Tronox, and the owners of Chrysler, SemGroup and Entergy New Orleans. She has also been advising noteholder groups, boards and special board committees in private restructuring transactions involving national and international companies. As well, she advises funds in the acquisition of distressed debt.

Ms Vris received her JD from New York University in 1983 and was the managing editor of the NYU Law Review. She was graduated from University of Pennsylvania, BA magna cum laude, in 1977.
