Vincent J Vitkowsky represents insurers and reinsurers in significant disputes. He serves as advocate and counsellor in litigation, arbitration and mediation of reinsurance, insurance coverage, regulatory, general commercial and antitrust matters.

Since the 1980s, Mr Vitkowsky has been among the core of lawyers most active in reinsurance arbitration and litigation. His matters have addressed all commonly recurring issues, as well as unique points of contract interpretation. They have involved property, casualty, life, health, finite, workers compensation carve-out and aviation business, and have arisen in contexts such as 11 September 2001, Enron, hurricanes and insurance company insolvencies. Mr Vitkowsky also represents direct insurers in novel and high-stakes coverage matters involving, for example, securities and ERISA class actions, directors' and officers', professional indemnity, international litigation and bankruptcy issues. He has represented insurers in disputes arising from theatrical abandonment, space tourism and group health policies.

Mr Vitkowsky also represents insurance-industry clients in general commercial litigation, including antitrust, business torts, breach of trade secrets and unfair competition, wrongful termination and other matters. Mr Vitkowsky has been the prevailing attorney in many reported decisions on insurance and reinsurance law, the McCarran-Ferguson Act, the Federal Arbitration Act, and the United Nations Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards. He has significant mediation experience, having represented clients in successful mediations with dollar values in the millions and hundreds of millions.

Mr Vitkowsky received his BA from Northwestern University and his JD from the Cornell Law School.
