Mr Tamayo has advised and led numerous international transactions in both financing as well as in purchase and mergers of telecommunication companies in Latin America. He is the legal adviser for multinational companies in the field of telecommunications as well as in all his areas of expertise. He has been recognised in his fields of practice by a number of legal directories.
He has been invited by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) as an expert to set out cases of successful regulation in several Latin American countries.
Mr Tamayo is the author of several publications on topics of financial, litigations and telecommunications law. Among his publications is "Estudio de casos sobre convergencia y la sociedad de la Información Latinoamérica: casos de regulación exitosa en Brasil, Colombia y Venezuela" (Latin American Cases on convergence and the information society: cases of succesful regulation in Brasil, Colombia and Venezuela).
Gustavo Tamayo earned his law degree from Universidad de los Andes and a specialisation degree in Procedural Law from Universidad del Rosario. He is fluent in Spanish and English. In addition, he is member of the International Bar Association (IBA) and of the American Bar Association (ABA).
