Biography: Product Liability Defence

Ed Sledge has been actively engaged in product liability litigation since 1972. He has handled many cases throughout Alabama involving a wide variety of products including manufacturing, agricultural, recreational, automotive, pharmaceutical and tobacco. His experience includes litigation involving cigarettes, intra-uterine devices, heart valve implants, solvents, agricultural equipment, pesticides, cardiovascular drugs, latex gloves, firearms, diet drugs and conveying equipment. He also handles business and commercial litigation. He is a frequent lecturer on trial practice and product liability.

Mr Sledge graduated from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1972. He is one of the founders of McDowell Knight Roedder & Sledge LLC, which was formed in 1997. He is a member of the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association, having served on the board of directors in 1987. He is a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel, having served on its executive board between 1995 and 1998. He was also director of the International Association of Defense Counsel Trial Academy in 1992 and member of the International Association Trial Academy faculty in 1989. He is a member of the Defense Research Institute (DRI), having served as Alabama State chairman from 1988 until 1995, and past chair of the DRI Drug and Device Section. He is a Fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers.

Mr Sledge is also listed in The International Who's Who of Business Lawyer and is a member of the Product Liability Advisory Council (PLAC).
