With 25 years' experience in a range of corporate areas including banking and infrastructure, he advises a wide range of Indian and international clients. Regarded and consistently rated as India's leading corporate and finance lawyer by several international surveys, he is a leading practitioner in the field of securities law and has been associated with several landmark securities transactions by Indian issuers.
He pioneered the innovation in India of several debt and capital market instruments. He has also been associated with several landmark infrastructure and financing transactions.
Mr Shroff is a part-time lecturer on securities law at the Government Law College, Mumbai. He is a member of the primary markets advisory committee of the Securities & Exchange Board of India (SEBI). He is also a member of the advisory board of the National Institute of Securities Management established by the SEBI.
He is also a member of the subcommittee on capital markets of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and member of the CII National Committee on Commodity Markets. Besides this, he has been member of several governmental and other committees on law reform concerning the corporate and securities market, bankruptcy laws, commercialization of infrastructure, et cetera. He is also a member of the centre for the study of the legal profession set up by Harvard Law School.
Mr Shroff was admitted to the Bar in India in 1982. He has been a Solicitor of the Bombay Incorporated Law Society since 1983.
