He pioneered the innovation of several debt and capital market instruments in India and is regarded and consistently rated as India's top corporate, banking and project finance lawyer by several international surveys. Mr Shroff is a visiting lecturer of securities law at the Government Law College. He is a member of the Primary Markets Advisory Committee of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and also a member of the Advisory Board of the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM).
Mr Shroff is a member of the Executive Council - Legal Practice Division (LPD) of the International Bar Association (IBA) and the Advisory Board of the Asia-Pacific Forum of the IBA. He is also part of various committees of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) - the National Council on Corporate Governance, the National Committee on Commodities Markets, the Sub-Committee on Financial Investors, the National Committee on Regulatory Affairs and the National Committee on Capital Markets. He is an advisory board member of the centre for study of the legal profession set up by Harvard Law School. In addition to this, he has been a member of several governmental and other regulatory committees on law reform.
Mr Shroff was admitted to the Bar in 1982. He has been a solicitor of the High Court of Bombay since 1983.

As the managing partner of India's largest and leading law firm, Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A Shroff & Co, Cyril's current responsibilities include leadership of the firm, in addition to his client-facing role. A leading practitioner in the field of project finance and infrastructure, Cyril has been associated with a significant number of high-profile and complex deals.
He has been a member of several governmental and other regulatory committees on law reform concerning the corporate and securities market, bankruptcy laws, commercialisation of infrastructure, etc.
He is a member of four committees of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), that is, national committee on capital markets, national committee on commodity markets, national council on corporate governance, and national committee on financial regulation. Cyril is also a member of the managing committee of the Bombay Chamber of Commerce; and the primary market advisory committee (PMAC) of the Securities and Exchange Board of India.
Cyril has authored several publications on legal topics. He is a member of the Centre for Study of the Legal Profession established by the Harvard Law School and a member of the advisory board of National Institute of Securities Markets. Cyril has participated in several technical assistance projects of the Asian Development Bank in relation to the reform of laws relating to secured lending, bankruptcy and other related topics. Cyril is also a regular speaker at several domestic and international conferences.
