Joseph Shenker's broad multidisciplinary practice includes domestic and cross-border M&A and joint ventures, counsel to private equity investors and family investment offices, securities offerings, private and public financings, and related tax and estate planning, primarily focusing on the real estate industry. Coordinator of S&C's global commercial real estate practice and a member of the firm's management committee, Mr Shenker became vice chairman of the firm in 2006.

Notable representations include the Mara and Tisch families, owners of the NY Giants, in their US$1.6 billion JV development with the NY Jets of a new stadium in the Meadowlands Sports Complex; Pritzker Family Beneficiaries in their families' restructuring of their worldwide assets (US$25 billion plus); Goldman Sachs regarding its 2.2 million square foot world headquarters in Lower Manhattan; General Growth in its US$12.6 billion acquisition of Rouse (the largest ever REIT merger); Vornado in all acquisition activity, including most recently in its US$2 billion acquisition of all shares of a group of foreign companies that own controlling interests in NY's 1290 Avenue of the Americas and 555 California Street, SF; the international investors in the acquisition and later disposition of Rockefeller Center; the investors in their joint acquisition of Westin Hotels, and Westin Hotels in its later sale to Starwood; the international investors in the acquisition of Canary Wharf PLC and later IPO; and the Whitehall Funds in Canary Wharf's going private transaction and in acquisitions and dispositions of publicly and privately traded companies worldwide.
