Jeremy N Sheldon has been a partner at Ashurst since 1987. He established the firm's investment funds group in 1997, which now has five full-time partners.

Since its foundation the group's practice has rapidly expanded to embrace the formation of a wide range of funds, including private equity, mezzanine, corporate recovery, biotechnology, information technology, Shariah compliant and property funds. These have been structured under the laws of the UK and other European, as well as offshore, jurisdictions. With many of the group's clients raising funds from a global investor base, the group has a good understanding of the investor issues that can impact on fund structures and how these funds invest. In addition, the group advises on a variety of incentive arrangements for fund management executives. With the firm's European network of offices, it is in a position to structure these arrangements to produce the most effective solution for executives located across Europe.

Clients of the group include some of Europe's leading fund managers such as Cinven, Intermediate Capital Group, Altor Partners, Gartmore, CapMan, Stirling Square and CVC Cordatus, as well as the fund management divisions of a number of investment banks including Lehman Brothers, Mizuho Corporate Bank and Rotshchild.

Jeremy is a past member of the IBA's organising committee on specialist investment funds and regularly speaks at its annual conference in London.
