Biography: Franchise

Marc P Seidler, a litigator with over 30 years of experience before courts throughout the United States, focuses his practice on franchise and distribution and trade regulation. Mr Seidler also has an active commercial and international arbitration practice, both as a party representative and as an arbitrator. In addition, he has maintained an insurance practice, involving both dispute resolution and transactions.

Mr Seidler has been a member of the American Arbitration Association's National Panel of Commercial Arbitrators since 1988, is a member of its Large and Complex Case Panel, and has served as a member of its Midwest Regional Commercial Arbitration Advisory Board. As an arbitrator, he has been appointed sole arbitrator or as chair or member of three arbitrator panels in more than 75 domestic and international arbitrations, involving claims of up to US$45 million.

Mr Seidler has published articles on various franchising issues in Franchise Legal Digest and ABA Franchise Law Journal, and has been a speaker and presenter at seminars, roundtables and conferences. He received his JD from the University of Chicago Law School in 1973 and his AB, with honours, from the University of Chicago in 1970. He is admitted to practise law in Illinois.
