Biography: Competition

Bob Schlossberg is a partner in Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer's US antitrust, competition and trade (ACT) practice group, based in the Washington, DC office. For more than 25 years, Bob has represented clients on the full range of antitrust matters, with a particular emphasis on practice before the Federal Trade Commission and the antitrust division of the Justice Department. He has considerable experience with antitrust issues in mergers and acquisitions and has guided scores of national and international transactions through antitrust review to a successful conclusion. He has worked with a wide variety of industries, including chemicals, consumer goods, energy, industrial machinery, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, publishing, software and transportation.

Bob is chair of the Mergers & Acquisitions Committee of the ABA antitrust section and editor of the second edition of the ABA antitrust section treatise on US antitrust law as applied to mergers and acquisitions. He is a non-governmental adviser to the International Competition Network (ICN) and is recognised as a leading antitrust/competition lawyer in a number of guides and directories.

Bob also has significant experience advising on acquisitions by foreign entities that are subject to US national security scrutiny and review, including the full range of activities connected with such reviews. He has advised on the notifications under the Exon-Florio Act to the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), and successfully coordinated with CFIUS and its member agencies during the review process.

Bob joined from Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP, where he was a partner since 1990 and a leader of its antitrust group. He graduated from the George Washington University National Law Center.
