Kathy Sanders, a partner in O'Melveny & Myers LLP's Los Angeles office, is the co-chair of the private equity fund practice. She has a broad-based transactional practice that includes an emphasis on partnership law and, private and alternative investment fund formation. Her expertise extends to mergers and acquisitions - particularly the acquisition and sale of investment advisers - and the securities regulations governing investment companies and investment advisers.

On the securities front, she has extensive experience in establishing domestic and foreign investment funds for clients ranging from start-up ventures to Trust Company of the West. Her work has involved both private placements and public offerings, with a particular emphasis on limited partnerships and offshore investment vehicles. She has also represented TCW as lead counsel in connection with several of its acquisitions and played a significant role in the sale of TCW to Société Générale. In addition, she advises investment advisers about compliance with various securities regulations.

Kathy also has extensive expertise in advising institutional investors with regard to investments in alternative investment vehicles. Regarding acquisitions, Kathy has represented public and private entities in acquisitions of investment advisers, insurance companies, and entertainment businesses.

Kathy is a graduate (JD, 1985) of the University of Southern California Law Center (Order of the Coif, member: Southern California Law Review and the University of California (BA, cum laude, business and economics, 1980).

Kathy is a member of the board of visitors for the UCLA department of economics and the former chair of the Institute for Corporate Counsel. She is also currently a member of the firm's compensation committee, served on the firm's policy committee for four years, and co-chaired the firm's diversity task force.
