She is a frequent writer and lecturer on these specialties in Canada and the United States. Cynthia lectures on advanced trademark matters at a joint-programme sponsored by the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada and McGill University, and has been a part-time lecturer in both the LLM in intellectual property and e-commerce courses at Osgoode Hall Law School. She has also lectured on IP issues in a University of Toronto course on website development.
In 2006 and 2007, Cynthia was recognised among the top-dozen most highly-regarded trademark professionals in the world in the International Who's Who of Trademark Lawyers, as one of only three Canadians on the list. She was also selected to appear in the 2008 edition of The Best Lawyers in America in the area of IP law and has received particular commendation for her portfolio management work.
Cynthia served as president of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC) from 2005 to 2006 and currently chairs IPIC's Trademark Legisation Committee. She has chaired and served on numerous committees involved in trademark law, internet and domain name law, and international trademark protection. Cynthia has served as director of the International Trademark Association, is a member of the Canadian Bar Association's trademark committee, and a member of numerous IPIC committees relating to trademark practice and international trademarks.
