Biography: Mergers and Acquisitions

Alison Ressler is responsible for Sullivan & Cromwell's practice in California. She is also a member of the firm's management committee, and serves as co-head of the private equity group.

A leading authority on mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and capital markets, Mrs Ressler provides advice to domestic and international corporations, private equity investors, boards of directors and financial advisers for a wide range of transactions in regulated and unregulated industries.

Significant M&A transactions in which Mrs Ressler is currently involved or has been involved in recent years include: the acquisition of Hilton Hotels Corporation by The Blackstone Group's real estate and corporate private equity funds (as counsel to Hilton); the pending acquisition of Clear Channel Communications by a private equity group comprised of Thomas H Lee Partners and Bain Capital Partners (as counsel to the financial advisor to Clear Channel); the pending acquisition of Asurion Corporation by an investor group including Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (as counsel to Canada Pension Plan Investment Board); the acquisition of Central Parking by Chrysalis Capital Partners LP and Lubert-Adler LP (as counsel to Chrysalis Capital Partners LP and Lubert-Adler LP); and the acquisition of CNL Retirement Properties by Health Care Property Investors (as counsel to HCPI).

Mrs Ressler is a member of the dean's council at Columbia Law School and is a trustee of Brown University and Harvard-Westlake School.

Mrs Ressler joined Sullivan & Cromwell LLP in 1984 after graduating from Columbia Law School (JD, 1983) and Brown University (BA, magna cum laude). She became a partner of the firm in 1991.
