Biography: Competition

Born in 1968, Jérôme Philippe leads Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer's antitrust, competition and trade (ACT) group in Paris. Before joining the firm in 2002, Jérôme was head of the office of mergers and state aids at the Directorate General for Competition Policy, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control (DGCCRF).

He primarily advises on French and EU merger control, cartel law, dominance cases, state aid and regulatory matters. He represents clients before the Conseil de la Concurrence, the DGCCRF, the European Commission, the European Court of Justice and French courts. Jérôme has also been appointed as one of the non-governmental advisers for France to the International Competition Network (ICN).

In addition to being a lawyer, Jérôme received a PhD in Economics from the University of Toulouse and also graduated as an engineer from àノcole Polytechnique and àノcole Nationale de la Statistique et de l'Administration àノconomique. He therefore has particular expertise in cases involving both legal and economic analyses. He acts for a wide range of corporate clients and speaks French, English and Spanish.
