Biography: Construction

Robert S Peckar is a recognised leader among the construction bar. He spent the first half of his career successfully litigating complex construction cases and has since concentrated his efforts in guiding the firm's clients to the resolution of difficult project disputes through the formulation of creative solutions, including the use of ADR processes. Mr Peckar is one of the leading advocates in the use of ADR and serves as an arbitrator in complex international arbitrations.

Mr Peckar has devoted his career to serving the construction industry and bar. He has taught the value of effective dispute resolution at the AGC's Advanced Management Program for 17 years and regularly makes presentations to other major national and local industry groups. He has served as general counsel of the Building Contractors Association of New Jersey, the New York Building Congress (which recently named him General Counsel Emeritus), and is currently General Counsel to the Building Trades Employers Association of New York City and the national CFMA. Mr Peckar has written many articles on construction law, and is the contributing author in several construction law textbooks and the author of New Jersey Practice: Construction Law . Mr Peckar's prominence in Construction Law has led to glowing praise from clients and colleagues alike. Chambers USA, America's Leading Lawyers for Business 2005 and 2006 states he is "undoubtedly one of the sector's super-lawyers" and "super-intelligent, creative and business-oriented", as well as being on "everyone's short list" for dispute resolution. In the Chambers 2007 edition he was recognised as an "important attorney who attracts the greatest respect" and he was ranked in the top tier of attorneys in his field for the fifth consecutive year. Mr Peckar has also been recognised by The International Who's Who of Construction Lawyers, The Best Lawyers in America and as a New York and New Jersey Super Lawyer in Construction Law and was named as the Leading Construction Lawyer in the World by The International Who's Who of Business Lawyers 2006 and 2007.
