Biography: Arbitration

William W (Rusty) Park is professor of law at Boston University, where he lectures on tax, banking and international business transactions.

After studies at Yale and Columbia, Park practised in Paris until returning home to teach and to direct the Morin Center for Banking and Financial Law at Boston University. He has held visiting academic appointments at Cambridge University as well as in Dijon, Hong Kong, Auckland and Geneva. His books include Arbitration of International Business Disputes, International Forum Selection, International Chamber of Commerce Arbitration (with Craig and Paulsson), International Commercial Arbitration (with Reisman, Craig and Paulsson) and Income Tax Treaty Arbitration (with David Tillinghast).

He is general editor of Arbitration International, president of the London Court of International Arbitration and a member of the NAFTA financial services roster. He has served on the appeals tribunal for the International Commission on Holocaust Era Insurance Claims and as arbitrator on the Claims Resolution Tribunal for Dormant Accounts in Switzerland. A member of the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA), Park is also past chair of the ABA committee on international commercial dispute resolution.

In 2008 Park was appointed by the United States to the ICSID Panel of Arbitrators.

Park has served as arbitrator in ICC, AAA, CPR, LCIA, ICSID, UNCITRAL, IACAC, NASD, and ad hoc arbitrations. He has arbitrated in English and in French, and addressed disputes related to foreign investment, joint ventures, insurance, expropriation, LNG price revision, acquisitions, tax allocation, construction, letters of credit, licences and distributorships.
