Miguel B O'Farrell has been a partner since 1983. He specialises in intellectual property law and advises clients on licensing agreements, franchises and business law in general. He also has wide experience in mediation proceedings and in litigation before the federal courts and has participated actively in the implementation of border measures at customs to prevent the importation of counterfeit goods.
A lawyer from the Universidad de Buenos Aires, he has studied comparative law in the Inter-American Law Institute of NYU. He also graduated as a mediator from Universidad Austral and Escuela de Abogacía de Buenos Aires, and he is an industrial property agent. He is panelist of the Arbitration and Mediation Center of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and a member of the International Trademark Association's (INTA) Panel of Neutrals.
He has written several articles on intellectual property and related matters in national and foreign publications and he is author of the chapter 'Marcas y Patentes Internacionales' in Negocios y Comercialización Internacional. He is a frequent speaker at national and international forums on matters related to IP, ADR and border measures at customs.
He is a member of CARAT's (National and Transnational Argentine Arbitration Committee) advisory board; counsellor of the Fédération Internationale des Conseils en Propriété Industrielle (FICPI) and delegate of FICPI Argentine section. He is director of the Argentine chapter of the Licensing Executives Society (LES) and member of Les Nouvelles' editorial review board. He is also a member of the Asociación Interamericana de la Propiedad Industrial (ASIPI), International Bar Associaton (IBA), Asociación Argentina de Franchising (AAF), Asociación Argentina de Agentes de la Propiedad Industrial (AAAPI) and Colegio de Abogados de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires.
