He has also been the instructing lawyer in competition litigation in the Irish High Court, Supreme Court and European Courts. He advises a broad range of clients, including public bodies and private and public limited companies, in a wide range of sectors, including health, energy, financial services, insurance, construction, real estate, waste, food and beverages, agriculture, transport, shipping, telecommunications, news and media, information technology, retail, clothing, and travel services.
Pat also has significant experience in representing and advising trade associations in competition law investigations and proceedings.
Pat was for two years (2005 2007) a member of the National Competitiveness Council appointed by the then Minister for Enterprise Trade & Employment.
He is the Irish contributor to the yearly publication EC Competition Law Handbook and he is a member of the Irish Society for European Law, the Irish Centre for European Law and the Irish Institute for European Affairs.
Pat graduated from University College Cork, Ireland in 1987 and the College of Europe Bruges in 1988. He then worked in Brussels for the European Commission and a French Law firm before joining Arthur Cox in 1990 and became a partner in 2000.
