Biography: Private funds

Michael J Nooney is a partner at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP in the firm's corporate department. He advises clients on a wide range of corporate matters, including the organisation and operation of leveraged buyout, real estate, venture capital and other private equity and hedge fund matters. He also advises clients in connection with a variety of mergers and acquisitions and securities matters.

Mr Nooney has advised many private equity and hedge fund sponsors and investors, including Altamont Capital, American Industrial Partners, Blum Capital, Castle Creek Capital, Fremont Partners, Glenbrook Capital, Hellman & Friedman, Indaba Capital, KKR, KSL Capital, Pantheon Ventures, Platinum Equity, Riverwood Capital, Sycamore Partners, TCV and Vista Equity. He frequently presents at industry conferences on topics affecting the private equity industry.

Mr Nooney joined the firm in 1991 and became a partner in 1999. He was resident in the firm's London office from 1992 to 1995 and is currently resident in the firm's Palo Alto office. He received his BS and BA, summa cum laude, from St Louis University in 1986 and his JD and MBA from Columbia University in 1991.
