Hans-Jörg Niemeyer has been a partner in the Brussels office of Hengeler Mueller since 2001. He was previously a partner with Gleiss Lutz Hootz Hirsch between 1990 and 2000.
Mr Niemeyer advises German and international clients on EC and German merger control, cartel investigations and alleged abuse of dominant positions, as well as state aid matters. He represents clients before the EC Commission, Court of First Instance and Court of Justice of the European Communities. He has far-reaching experience in coordinating large merger control cases in European and non-European jurisdictions.
Recent merger control, cartel and state aid cases include: Claas/Renault Agriculture, Rheinmetall/STN ATLAS, Lombard Club (Austria); Banking Federation of the European Union and Association of German Banks against state guarantees to public banks.
Hans-Jörg Niemeyer regularly speaks on EC competition and state aid issues. He has contributed numerous articles to legal journals.
