Biography: Competition
Hans-Jörg Niemeyer has been a partner in the Brussels office of Hengeler Mueller since 2001. He was previously a partner with Gleiss Lutz Hootz Hirsch between 1990 and 2000. Mr Niemeyer advises German and international clients on EC and German merger control, cartel investigations and alleged abuse of dominant positions, as well as state aid matters.He has represented clients in several dozen proceedings before the European Commission, General Court and Court of Justice of the European Union. He has far-reaching experience in coordinating large merger control and cartel cases in European and non-European jurisdictions. Recent merger control, cartel and state aid cases include Austrian Airlines/Lufthansa (EU merger control), bathroom fittings and automotive parts (EU cartel) and WestLB AG (state aid).
Hans-Jörg Niemeyer regularly speaks on EC competition and state aid issues. He has contributed numerous articles to legal journals.
