Biography: Commercial Litigation

Marco N Niedermann was born on 28 April 1949. He studied law at the University of Zurich (lic iur 1974, Dr iur 1976) and received an LLM from the University of Virginia at Charlottesville (1983). From 1977 to 1986, Marco Niedermann served as a lecturer for civil law at the University of Zurich. He worked at Zurich courts for many years and also served as a judge ad hoc on a district court and at the Commercial Court of the Canton of Zurich (1981 to 1982). In 1994, after having been a partner at two renowned Zurich law firms, he founded the law firm of Niedermann Rechtsanwälte, which is specialised in, and has developed a recognised position in, commercial litigation and arbitration as well as in judicial and administrative assistance proceedings. He regularly acts as counsel and as arbitrator.

Marco Niedermann represented clients in cases related to money laundering, privatisation programmes of former Eastern Bloc countries, private banking and asset administration disputes, corporate liability, securities law, regulatory matters, enforcement of foreign judgements in Switzerland, and asset recovery.

Marco Niedermann speaks German, English and French. He is a member of the Zurich Bar Association and the Swiss Bar Association.
