Joseph Neuhaus's practice focuses on international commercial litigation in both arbitral and court settings, with particular emphasis on Latin American matters.
Mr Neuhaus is co-coordinator of Sullivan & Cromwell's international arbitration practice and has litigated antitrust, patent and other intellectual property disputes, among others. He is the co-author of A Guide to the UNCITRAL Model Law on International Commercial Arbitration: Legislative History and Commentary (Kluwer 1989) and the author of, among other articles, 'Current Issues in the Enforcement of International Arbitration Awards', University of Miami Inter-American Law Review Vol 36 (2004), and 'The Autonomy of the Arbitration Agreement: Some Thoughts on the US Experience', ICCA Yearbook (2006).
Mr Neuhaus is chair of the committee on professional ethics of the New York State Bar Association. He joined Sullivan & Cromwell in 1987 after graduating from Dartmouth College (BA, 1979) and Columbia University (JD, 1982). He clerked for Justice Lewis F Powell of the United States Supreme Court and for the Iran-United States Claims Tribunal. Mr Neuhaus became a partner of the firm in 1992.
