Biography: Competition
Edurne Navarro Varona specialises in European law and antitrust (EU and Spanish). Her main areas of practice are merger control, state aid and cartels, as well as trade law - mainly anti-dumping and rules of origin. She acts for Spanish, European and North American undertakings in sectors such as energy, transport, pharmaceuticals, defence and banking.
Edurne is a member of the Barcelona Bar, the Barreau de Bruxelles, the IBA, the UIA and the Spanish Association for the Study of European Law.
Edurne graduated from the University of Barcelona (1988, PhD 1994); she studied at the Free University of Brussels (Master in European Law) from 1988 to 1989 and the University of Michigan (LLM) from 1990 to 1991. She has worked at Uría Menéndez since 1992 and was made partner in 1998. She regularly teaches and publishes on European competition law, and is a co-author of Merger Control in the EU, Oxford University Press, 2005 (2nd edition).
