Biography: Banking

Peter Murphy's practice focuses on banking and financial services law generally (including syndicated financing, aircraft financing, asset leasing, trade finance and bank regulatory matters). He is repeatedly recognised as one of Canada's leading banking/financial services lawyers.

As a partner in the firm's financial services group, and located in the firm's Toronto office, he acts for a number of Canadian domestic financial institutions and foreign banks and as Canadian counsel for several foreign law firms. In addition to his transactional practice, Peter is also responsible for helping to manage the firm's relationship with key financial institution clients. Peter is also a member of the firm's national board.

Peter's expertise is based on 30 years of acting for domestic and foreign financial institution clients and foreign law firms from the United Kingdom, United States, Australia and Japan. He has become a trusted adviser to his clients, giving them strategic counsel on structuring financing transactions and restructuring non-performing loans.
