Biography: Product Liability Defence
Ed Moss is a partner with Shook Hardy & Bacon, and focuses his practice on the handling and trial of products liability matters, complex commercial cases, and defence of class actions. Mr Moss's trial skills have received the highest recognition of his peers: Mr Moss is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, and of the International Society of Barristers. Mr Moss is also consistently listed in The Best Lawyers in America and has been selected as one of the top 10 litigators in Florida. In 2007, he was included in Expert Guides: Guide to the World's Leading Product Liability Lawyers.
Mr Moss has represented numerous corporations in defending class action lawsuits. Some of his notable class action experience includes co-lead counsel in smoking and health cases in Florida. He has also defended various class action claims against clients such as Home Depot USA, American Home Products (diet drug litigation), various members of the insurance industry, and the health-care industry.
Mr Moss has tried product liability cases for clients like DuPont, Westinghouse Corporation, American Motors, ConocoPhillips Company, Motorola, Texaco, Otis Elevator, United Technologies, Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company, Hartford Insurance Company and The Boeing Company (in the Aero Peru crash). He served as co-lead defence counsel in the DuPont Plaza fire case in San Juan, Puerto Rico; represented The Boeing Company in numerous crash disasters; represented Texaco in an "environment spill" toxic tort case; and represented Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company in two major class action trials.
Mr Moss has also represented numerous architectural and construction firms in construction-related litigation, including his representation of Westinghouse in litigation arising from construction of the Miami Metrorail System.
Mr Moss is admitted to practise before the state and federal courts of Florida; before the US Court of Appeals for the First, Fifth and Eleventh Circuits; and before the Supreme Court of the United States.
