Biography: Commercial Arbitration

Michael J Moser acts as arbitrator and counsel and is chairman of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre. A partner of O'Melveny & Myers LLP, he divides his time between the firm's offices in Hong Kong and Beijing. He has resided in China for nearly 30 years and has acted as arbitrator, mediator or counsel in more than 150 cases.

Mr Moser is co-chair of the China Arbitration Forum and vice president of the Asia Pacific Regional Arbitration Group (APRAG). He is a member of the Panel of Arbitrators of CIETAC, the SIAC, the AAA and other leading institutions and was the first foreigner to serve as an arbitrator in China. He is a chartered arbitrator and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in London. He is also a member of the panel of distinguished neutrals of the CPR Institute in New York and the advisory board of the Institute of Transnational Arbitration.

Educated at Harvard Law School (JD) and Columbia University (PhD), he is the author of numerous books and articles. He is also adjunct professor of arbitration law at the City University of Hong Kong and general editor of the Journal of International Arbitration. He speaks and reads Mandarin Chinese.
