Biography: Business Crime

Robert G Morvillo is a member of the New York City law firm of Morvillo, Abramowitz, Grand, Iason, Anello & Bohrer, PC, specialising in white-collar criminal defence and commercial litigation from 1973 to the present. Mr Morvillo received his AB from Colgate University in 1960 and his JD from the Columbia University School of Law in 1963, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone scholar and an editor of the Columbia Law Review. He was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1964.

Mr Morvillo served as a law clerk to the Honourable William B Herlands, United States District Judge of the Southern District of New York, between 1963 and 1964. He also served in the criminal division of the United States Attorney's Office, Southern District of New York in various capacities, culminating as chief of the division in 1971.

Mr Morvillo is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and former chairman of its New York Downstate Committee; a former president of the New York Council of Defense Lawyers; and editor of a white-collar crime book; and he regularly writes in the "White Collar Crime" column in the New York Law Journal. Mr Morvillo has contributed to programmes sponsored by legal organisations, including the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the American College of Trial Lawyers, the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the Cardozo Law School and the Stanford Law School. In addition, Mr Morvillo is on the board of directors of the South Nassau Community Hospital.
