Biography: Insurance & Reinsurance
David E Mendelsohn represents insurers, reinsurers and brokers in a wide array of matters, including sophisticated transactions, resolving complex federal and state regulatory issues, and mediating insurance and reinsurance disputes. Mr Mendelsohn frequently addresses issues involving property and casualty, and life and health, lines of insurance and reinsurance, as well as speciality areas such as the federal crop insurance, viatical and life settlements, finite reinsurance and other alternative risk transfer. He also has represented clients in filing amicus curial briefs with the US Supreme Court. In addition, Mr Mendelsohn's practice includes counselling clients on all aspects of compliance, information management and ethics.
Mr Mendelsohn has published an extensive array of articles in respected law journals and trade publications, several of which have been cited by numerous courts throughout the US.
Mr Mendelsohn is frequently invited to speak on issues affecting the insurance and reinsurance industry and has made numerous presentations on insurance, reinsurance, and commercial topics to a wide variety of audiences, including the Institute of London Underwriters, Reinsurance Association of America, Brokers and Reinsurance Market Association, Excess and Surplus Lines Claims Association, National Association of Insurance Commissioners, Fédérations Françaises des Sociétés d'Assurances, London Insurance and Reinsurance Market Association, International Association of Insurance Commissioners, Lloyds of London, and the International Reinsurance Congress.
Mr Mendelsohn received his LLB from the University College of London in 1985, passing with first class honours, and attended Lancaster Gate School of Law, again passing with honours. He received his JD from Chicago-Kent College of Law, Illinois Institute of Technology in 1991.
Mr Mendelsohn is one of only 134 attorneys in the US who have been named to the BTI Client Service All-Star Team for Law Firms, which recognises lawyers who deliver "the best client service to Fortune 1000 clients". Lawyers appear on the list only when they have been named by clients in an unprompted manner through BTI's independent research.
