She has obtained competition clearance for transactions in a wide variety of sectors, including the airline, chemical, gas, food and beverages, healthcare, mining and banking sectors.
Jean represented one of South Africa's major banks in the Competition Commission's enquiry into banking. She was the lead attorney in the first excessive pricing case in South Africa. She acted for the successful party in the Supreme Court of Appeal in the leading case on the interpretation of the per se prohibition on price fixing.
Jean Meijer is recognised as one of South Africa's leading competition lawyers. She has BA and LLB degrees from Rhodes University and an LLM in competition and intellectual property law from the University of South Africa. She frequently lectures and publishes on South African competition law matters.
