V Bryan Medlock Jr, a partner in Sidley's Dallas office, has 35 years of experience trying patent cases. He has served as special master, arbitrator, mediator and expert witness in numerous patent cases. He was a guest lecturer on trade secret law at Southern Methodist University from 1972 to 1975, and has served as chairman of the annual Southwestern Legal Foundation Institute on Patent Law from 1976 to 1979, and from 1983 to the present.

Mr Medlock served as chairman of the patent, trademark and copyright law section of the Texas State Bar from 1973 to 1974, from which he received the chairman's award in 1993. He has also served as chairman of the American Bar Association's committee on patent litigation, litigation section, from 1981 to 1986. Mr Medlock is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association. He received his LLB from the University of Oklahoma College of Law, where he served as managing editor of the Oklahoma Law Review. He also received a BS in chemical engineering from the University of Oklahoma.
