John Lorn McDougall has served as chairman of the Canadian national arbitration committee of the International Chamber of Commerce and is presently a Canadian representative to the ICC commission on arbitration in Paris. He is a member of a number of other panels of international arbitrators including the London Court of International Arbitration, International Centre for Dispute Resolution, and CPR Institute for Dispute Resolution. Mr McDougall is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and an honorary member of the Commercial Bar Association of England and Wales.

He has been active in the defence of class actions brought against multinational clients based on allegations of audit negligence, breaches of securities and competition laws. He has been involved in a number of cross-border class actions and insolvencies and is well experienced in dealing with the expectations of parties to disputes from different legal systems.
