Biography: Real Estate

Nina B Matis practice is heavily concentrated in all areas of commercial real estate development and acquisition (including residential, office, retail, hotel and mixed-use developments), financing (including rated and structured financing) and partnership law. She has extensive experience in the organisation and investment activities of debt and equity funds comprising pension funds and domestic and foreign investors, and in investment and organisational matters relating to REITS. iStar Financial Inc, Cerberus Real Estate Capital Management LLC and Related Urban Development LLC are a few of the clients with whom she has dealt in numerous transactions. She is also a member of the firm's executive committee and the board of directors.

Between 1984 and 1987, Ms Matis was an adjunct professor at Northwestern University School of Law, where she taught real estate transactions. In addition, she is chief investment officer, general counsel and executive vice president to iStar Financial Inc. Ms Matis is also a member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, Ely Chapter of Lambda Alpha International, Chicago Finance Exchange, Urban Land Institute, REFF, Chicago Real Estate Executive Women, the Chicago Network, WX (New York Women in Real Estate) and the Economic Club of Chicago, and is listed in Best Lawyers In America, Sterling's Who's Who, Law Dragon's 500 Best Lawyers, Chambers and Partners USA and The American Biographical Institute Awards - Great Women of the 21st Century.

Ms Matis graduated from Smith College, Northampton, Massachusetts, with a BA (honours) in political science, and holds a law degree from New York University School of Law (1972).
